Eric Buskell & Pineapple Willy's Receive the "Humanitarian of the Year Award" from the Humane Society of Bay County
Panama City, FL - At The Wine Dog's "Toast For the Paws" benefit, on Friday, January 29th, Mr. Eric Buskell was presented the "Humanitarian of the Year" award for 2009. This first annual award was presented to Mr. Buskell and the staff at Pineapple Willy's Restaurant, by the Humane Society of Bay County's Marketing Director, Lorrie Black.
"Throughout the year, Mr. Buskell and his staff have consistently donated their time and money to help the homeless animals of Bay County." said Ms. Black. "Eric is but a phone call away, when we need help."
On behalf of Pineapple Willy's, Mr. Buskell presented a check to the Humane Society for $10,420.00, in August of 2009. The donation was from a week long event at Pineapple Willy's called "Community Days", in which 100% of the restaurant's gross was donated to several local non-profit and rescue organizations.
The Buskells have held similar fundraising events in the past as part of their strong commitment to helping Bay County's homeless animals. They continue to sponsor all of the Humane Society's signature events and supply the event T-Shirts. At "Barkin on the Bay 2009", Mr. Buskell provided entertainment from blues artist, Johnny Rawls, and advertised the event on Pineapple Willy's ad board. Mr. Louey Miley, who is part of the Pineapple Willy's staff, donated and operated the sound system for the event.
"Without the kindness that they consistently demonstrate, countless animals would go without help, veterinary care, and forever homes." said Terri Davidson, Vice President of the Humane Society's Board of Directors and owner of The Wine Dog. "We are so honored by Mr. Buskell and his staff's generosity. We are very pleased to present them with this award."
"I am very honored, and appreciate this recognition" said Mr. Buskell. "I came out to enjoy the event, taste some wine and make a donation" Buskell stated. He then presented Ms. Black and Ms. Davidson with a $5,000.00 donation to the Humane Society.
