STUDENTS HELP HSBC - posted November 25, 2009

The students at Bay Haven Charter Academy who participated in a Summer Enrichment Book Club, taught by Margaret Gamble surprised HSBC, with a kind donation.

One of the books that they read was called "The Lemonade War," written by Jacqueline Davies. The main characters in this story compete to see who can raise more money in one week of Lemonade Sales. One character decides to donate her winnings to the Animal Shelter.

Ms. Gamble's students liked the idea so much, that they decided to set up a Lemonade Stand of their own. All of the students agreed that any money made would go to a charity, instead of trying to divide it among the group. It was unanimously decided that the Humane Society would receive the funds raised.

There were two groups of students that participated in this enrichment class and the resulting $150.00 was raised in two afternoon Lemonade Stand events, one by each group.

The Humane Society is so honored to have these special students, who choose to help support the shelter pets in our care.

We Thank You from the bottom of our hearts!BHaven(3).JPG
